Custom Fishing Ladder - Material List (Blog 1 of 2)

This is a materials list for the custom ladder I designed five years ago.  I have since made a few changes which I will note on occasion.   There are a few options when deciding on your design, which may be cheaper, but I have found materials to be in the three hundred range.  I made only three of these with a 300 pound rated ladder, but will be making no more.  I think for many, a 225 pound rated ladder of same design would be more than adequate.   I hope my description of these items, and the following procedural guidelines clarify the objective, and give you years of comfortable, waiting on the "big one" to visit your bait!!

Other than the Ultimate Work Platform ladder, the other items can be purchased locally.  I got the ladders from Amazon.com, and were usually delivered UPS in 5-7 days.

MATERIALS
Ultimate Workers Platform, Model 11-003-ABL   300 pound rated model
Wise folding seat   Various colors available  ESSENTIAL you get the type with slots on fasteners that allow for cushion removal, in order to fasten rodholder to back with bolts.
Seat pedestal  -  stainless or zinc finish
Seat base - stainless or zinc finish
Berkley 3rod holder ( one unit )  This will be cut to allow a two rod holder for seatback, and single holder mounted under seat for net.
Two foot by two foot piece of 3/4 inch plywood.
Eight fluid ounces of Minwax Polycrilic or spar eurethane, clear gloss for protecting wood.
Two each, 7" semi solid wheels, 1/2" hole, item 98951 at Harbor Freight on Kietzke.
Althread rod, 36" long, 1/2-13 thread, Home Depot.  Stainless or zinc plated.

HARDWARE (for assembling materials)
Two each, 10" long, 3/8" steel cement anchoring rods. Home Depot
Two each 1/2-13NC nylock nuts.  These have Teflon ring, that prevents wheels from walking off axle.
Six each 1/2" zinc or stainless washers.
Four each, 1/4" x 4" eyebolt with nut, zinc plated.
Two each, 1/4-20NC nylocks, four 1/4-20NC nuts, four 1/4-20 washers, two each 1/4-20NC wing nuts.
A package zinc #12 x 1 3/4" wood screws, six steel 1/4-20NC long steel flathead bolts, 6 each 1/4-20 nylocks.
Assortment package of smaller stove bolts and nuts.  These will be used to secure rod holders, and net holder, and other things you might want on chair or shelf itself.

This is all for the parts list.   I will be posting a blog of procedural steps for the actual build soon, pictures included. Thanks for your patience.  You may decide to replace some of the zinc hardware with stainless steel, which may run your cost up a bit, but will give you a more resilient end result.  I am still using a 225 rated version of this, that I made 5 years ago, and with zinc components...it is still going strong!
